    Abstract / Zusammenfassung

Early, indirect transfer of the probiotic strain to nursed piglets and permanent contact with an altered microbiota in maternal feces appears important for the development of weaned piglets. An influence on the composition of the intestinal bacterial populations and the immune system was demonstrated, both of which could lead to reduced pre- and post-weaning losses in piglet production.
