    Abstract / Zusammenfassung

    Podcasts have gained a high level of awareness. In the context of e-learning the use of
    podcasts for teaching is being discussed intensively. So far it has not yet been investigated whether veterinary students want podcasts for teaching.
    Furthermore, the duration and the podcast design that the students prefer is not known.
    A study was conducted by the Veterinary Clinic of Reproduction (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Free University of Berlin) to answer these questions. Three websites were created with identical course content. The students could choose to visit one website by mouse click. On two of these sites podcasts of various lengths were available.
    On a third site, the course content was offered without podcasts. A total of 81 students visited one of the three websites. The majority of these students chose a website with podcasts and preferred the shorter version. Among the participants an online survey was conducted (n = 64). Most of the students preferred multimedia podcasts with videos (70%) and images (72%).
