For three lots of commercially produced pasteurized spray-dried egg products that had been proved Salmonella-positive in a previous routineexamination the Salmonella-distribution was determined using an MPN-technique (30 samples per lot). The Salmonella-count of most of the individual samples did not exceed the detection limit of 0.03/g. In the sample units proved to be positive for salmonellae, the contamination level reached only low values with extremes of 0.93/g. Results indicatethat for pulverized foods it is not necessary to assume that salmonellae are concentrated in spots.
