Abstract / Zusammenfassung

This case report describes acupuncture of a nine-year-old stud bull with reduced libido (reduced kidney-yang). During the treatment period of seven weeks several ejaculates could be collected. A long-term improvement of the libido was not obtained. It has to be considered that continued semen collection facilitated by acupuncture may deteriorate the energetic situation of an animal. On the other hand, the importance of welfare enhancement in livestock may be equal to economic profit in determining the success of a treatment.
