Abstract / Zusammenfassung

Vaccination is recognised to be the most reliable prevention of Enzootic Pneumonia which is associated with reduced growing performance, mortality and follow-up diseases.
Concerning age and exposure and dynamic of infection in a herd the optimal timing of vaccination is disputed because maternal antibodies may interfere in piglets, or growing performance in weaned and finishing pigs may be reduced. The objective of this study was to compare growing pigs at risk receiving a new single dose "One-shot vaccine" and a conventional two-dose vaccine regarding immune response, health status and growing performance. The One-shot vaccine differs from the conventional one also by a higher concentration of antigen.
