In this study the effect of an exhaust air washer on the emission of airborne dust, endotoxins, and bacteria from a duck fattening unit was in vestigated. The air washer, a combination of a bioscrubber and a chemofilter, was originally developed to reduce odour and ammonia emissions. The results demonstrated that the tested exhaust air washer system is able to reduce significantly the emission of airborne dust, endotoxins, and bacteria. Furthermore, the results indicate that the air treatment process influences the composition of the purified exhaust air.
