Decontamination measures in small animal practice.
Adequate infection control is a precondition for small animal practice and is regulated by the German law on protection against infection [Infektionsschutzgesetz]. The aim is the protection of both the animals and their owners as well as of the practice personnel. The main decontamination measures are different sterilization procedures, disinfection of equipment, and the disinfection of skin and hands for routine purposes and for invasive measures.
