    Abstract / Zusammenfassung

Genetically modified (GM) plants contribute significantly to the feed market worldwide. Large quantities of GM maize and soybeans are fed to farm animals producing meat, eggs, and milk. Questions raised by the public about the general safety of such GM products have initiated extensive research activities. To date, published studies investigating the feeding of GM crops (GMCs) to cattle, pigs, or poultry products have not shown any measurable health risks for the consumer of meat, milk, or eggs. The aim of the following review is to show data and to provide a brief summary of recently available scientific work dealing with the safety of meat, milk, and eggs derived from farm animals fed GMCs.
