Projektbeschreibung: |
The project includes studies about activation of mechanisms of epithelial cells by probiotics (E.faecium) or zinc which have consequences for epithelial transports properties and integrity. It focuses on characterization of the protective functions of heat shock proteins and of effects of cytokines, which are released upon challenge by E. faecium, on intestinal transport and barrier. The possible involvement of toll-like receptors in the suggested signal cascade induced by E. faecium will be tested. The effects of a high intake of zinc on secretory and absorptive mechanisms of the intestinal epithelium, the signaling pathways and its protective role against infections will be studied. |
